There is a world out there in the broad and wild multiverse where England failed, and we'd all be speaking Spanish as the Lingua franca and we'd all be speaking a much better language.

Fewer tenses than spanish
Only singular and plural numbers (no dual)
Static adjectives (don't change based on gender or number)
Respect does not factor into grammar
@ambyrb And most of that is built around studying other languages so I can just try to make sense of the world at large. I'm sorry if this wasn't clear in my initial thrust.
I was venting frustrations about something I know intimately to twist and dance and make pretty but I feel is utterly brutish and graceless inherently

@ambyrb Hokay, so, again. I'm using Spanish here as a colonialist example because that seemed to be one of the more obvious choices here given how massive the Spanish Empire was.
Further, I'd rather something that doesn't have on average three ways to pronounce a vowel's sound.
I don't know what I'd rather, but it certainly isn't the hot patch fix mess that my birth tongue is.
