The Baroness / Lady Jaye / The Baroness

the trans girl version of fuck/marry/kill is fuck/marry/be

just heard about scarlett winning a huge starcraft ii tournament. jesu bless that girl, i'm so proud ❤

zelda botw: left the opening area in session 2 and on a world tour to activate most of the map-giving towers. several hours evaporated just like that

when the joycons ran out of juice i switched to portable mode and continued right on. very slick, though the portable mode battery went down pretty quickly, too

i really like how they give you like 5 key gameplay tools in just the prologue. really sets you up to Do Things from the start instead of Wanting To Do Things But Can't So Must Return Later

also really impressed with how vast yet designed the world feels. somehow nails this better than typical bethesda games

have ignored the firefox add-on world these past few months and looking in, don't see any major new developments?

(it could also be that the new addons.mozilla.org is bad at surfacing relevant content)

in any case tab mix plus finally released a webextension. it only has the features of a v0.1 though

tabmixplus.org/forum/viewtopic

i am still waiting anxiously for a real powerful tab management solution a la Tab Groups. things like that and TMP are hobbled by the lack of new FF APIs they'd need to implement their old features, though. it will likely be a while before this situation improves much.

i somehow never got the memo that super adventure island ii is a weird-ass departure for the typically same-y series

doesn't look particularly brilliant though. definitely miss the koshiro soundtrack of the first game

if you're writing an article and say
"let's hear what so and so has to say" you're actually saying "let us" which is technically a collective voice so it's real easy to have that sneak in sometimes even when you're not supposed to have such a voice

(i just did this)

the virtua fighter 2 soundtrack (or at least this album-rip copy of it) sounds like someone applied a virtual surround filter to it or something. sounds airy and insubstantial

instead of working i spent an hour and change reminding myself about all the weird details of breath of fire dragon quarter

my little joy on my regular writing gig is doing a mass replace of "you know, " -> [nothing] on the interview transcripts i write off of

got 46 this time. 92 fewer words to read

started playing a Switch recently and working my way through mario

just did the water world and it was a very nice outing with pleasant visuals and enough water locomotion options that navigation didn't become a chore. still a sense that everything is too easy and lacking in complexity, though

i played with the adapter that puts the joy-cons into a standard controller form factor and (to my surprise) liked it much more than separate joy-cons. it felt like the right analog was at a considerably better angle for my thumb. in fact, both sticks actually felt more solid in general instead of undersized and imprecise

wow the black panther reviews are resoundingly positive across the board. sounds like it's not just another marvel movie. if they were gonna get just one of these so right, i'm thrilled it's this one

5. the soundtrack is very... fanciful? upbeat? for a sci-fi movie

6. when the opening title appeared i thought how it must have felt so grand to fans back in 1986, before TNG was a thing and ST content was still in short supply. as the cast's names appeared onscreen they would've been like "those our OUR PEOPLE"

7. various instances of "i must travel to earth to speak to someone" or "when you go vulcan say hi to mom". before the internet instantaneous long-distance communication was not in the zeitgeist, even in the 23rd century

8. the outlandish / cheap / garish / '80s alien getups in the court scenes are well worth freeze-frame inspection

instead of the super bowl friends and i reconvened for a last-minute Spoopy Bowl II. unlike last year the programming was not spoopy at all, star trek IV: the voyage home. again, last-minute thing. i'm just glad a spoopy bowl even happened

anyway, was struck by
1. 1986 marine biologist lady is a sketchily written, emotionally limited otaku who literally only cares about whales

2. Kirk's attempts to be sauve and smooth with her fall flat and he ends up being creepy a lot

3. Sulu is almost always smiling in the SF scenes and we are reasonably certain he traded sex for that Huey copter he obtained

4. Chekhov lost his rad leathers when he got captured :(
