having this weird problem (new to me) where 7-Zip barfs upon encountering japanese chars in filenames, displaying garbage
had to set system locale to JPN to fix (required reboot). this let me view and extract the files, and their names remained intact on HDD after switching OS back to english.
i have never had to do this before, but i see online it's not uncommon. what's the deal?
looks like i might have to use an old workaround hack called AppLocale to start 7-Zip when i need it to read asian filenames
