so i'm listening to the phantom of the paradise soundtrack now and i understated how good the music is last night. like two thirds of the tracks are damn good

happy to see that Chocolate Doom 3.0 (rewritten for SDL2) seems stable and has feature parity with 2.x. (an earlier version i checked out last year had major framepacing issues)

watched Phantom of the Paradise (1974) the other night with my movie buff friend

just ok. my main reaction was a sincere appreciation for the oft-virtuosic camera work

i also really liked the uniquely grotesque design of the phantom. that guy does more acting with one impossibly widened eye than many actors do with their whole faces

the plot itself was flimsy, even for a rock musical, and the music was only sometimes memorable

i was lookin forward to seeing my girl jessica harper (who was a great-sounding janet weiss in rhps sequel shock treatment) but her role was just a plot device. at least she got to belt out one good song with her tremendous voice.

@raccoon yeah, its own little CPU. forget what for. lessens battery life. iirc i think some emulators use it but the DS can't even do SNES full-speed...

my NDS flash cart (the DSTwo) has wonderful save/load state support, so it's disappointing that the EverDrive GBA X5 lacks it. there is speculation that a future X7 (guess they only use odd numbers) would have such. in no rush, so good reason to wait.

yes, it is a good, sensible idea to SET UP A ROM EXTRACTION STATION so you can obtain the exact same data that is easily available on the internet while (thank goodness!!) staying within the bounds of draconian intellectual property laws

i will never understand such people and it's so silly when that is the official, enforced company line on a media site or, in this case, a forum like resetera. NOT A SINGLE PERSON WHO READS THAT WILL FOLLOW YR ABSURDLY INCONVENIENT SUGGESTION
