so how do you like, not have your entire life consumed by a huge game like zelda botw?

i can see how people put 200 hours into this but for some reason i don't imagine being able to do that in reasonable 2-hour chunks. i can only imagine day-eating 8-hour marathons (like i've done so far) and that's somehow scary to me, the prospect of one entertainment object eating all my time for two, three weeks

guess it's obvious i haven't played a deep-commitment game for a good long while

also occurred to me today, re: childhood games

super mario bros. 2 (us) is now 30 years old

this ridiculously warm february weather has me opening the windows during the day and into the evening

having the breeze pass through as i explore zelda botw actively enhances the experience. reminds me of playing games during long summer nights as a kid

zelda: spent a good 10 minutes thinking i was controlling that one tilty-maze motion-controlled shrine puzzle by moving the analog sticks. wow, i thought, they really tuned this weirdly. but the ball was sloooowly going where i intended because i guess i was also sligggggghtly tilting the controller when i moved sticks

@Skirmisher the problem is your OS is wearing a fedora. it is euphoric and that cannot be patched or fixed

@tcql good analysis. yeah, i just, didn't get much from the events of the vast majority of the flim. hence my ennui toward it

i don't think a cloverfield movie would ever have much badass alien fighting though. i get the feeling the franchise, if it has any consistency, is more about twilight-zone style shit happening and people having to deal with that unthinkable sci-fi crap becoming reality... and it not necessarily ending well for them

i really liked the first cloverfield tho so i guess that goodwill still bleeds into other things with that name, perhaps against logic
