if you're writing an article and say
"let's hear what so and so has to say" you're actually saying "let us" which is technically a collective voice so it's real easy to have that sneak in sometimes even when you're not supposed to have such a voice
(i just did this)
@alyx What's a context where such a voice is not supposed to, uh, be?
I don't do much formal writing, so I have no idea about this.
@benhamill usually a client will have requirements for their voice, like never use a collective we on our website / official materials or whatever
@benhamill could, yeah. a lot depends on the tone / personality (or lack thereof) that they're going for.
@benhamill let's be you're welcome
@alyx Fair. This is interesting. Thanks!
