after hearing stories from friends that match mine to an eerie exactness i'm 95% sure i have some form of ADD or related condition
friends who've gotten treatment describe it as night and day improvement, being able to accomplish tasks like never before, not losing entire days to procrastination... sounds amazing
i have a psych appt. for 2/20 so hopefully i can get a diagnosis soon
if it all pans out then i will have lived 20 years as an adult before stumbling upon the fact that whatever is wrong with me is treatable. that i'm not "just lazy" which has been my default narrative
anyway, we'll see

You have my sympathies. The experience of "Oh, you mean I'm not just a bad person?" is something I can very strongly relate to. It sucks that no one noticed before that or did anything about it, but I'm happy for you that you figured it out while you're young.
If you're in the US let me know if you need help navigating health stuff (who to see, what to say, what to expect, etc.).
