Thaland, corruption Afficher plus
@NPR asks, in my opinion, absurdly, whether deputy PM General Prawits $1 million plus collection of luxury watches will bring down the government. While it is true that Thais are very concerned about rampant corruption, the government is a military dictatorship, and does not fear the people. It appears likely Prawit will be pushed out https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2018/01/26/580657904/will-a-scandal-over-expensive-watches-bring-down-thailands-government
@acrata i will be back in thailand in late july. if i remember, last time i was there, june 2011, they also had some sort of unrest going on.
@acrata i guess my point being, it feels strange as a traveler to walk into situations like this
@alyx The underlying social problems remain, so disorder is repressed, not resolved, imo
@acrata no doubt.
