got my first "real" massage yesterday (deep tissue) and was/am curious about therapeutic benefits. she really went to work on my neck and shoulders, and so far the main takeaway is it seems to have released / uncovered the major left shoulder/neck pain i had storing up but not fully manifesting this past week
so it's hurty now and i wonder what the next treatment step is. maintain better posture until the pain dissipates?
@alyx it's pretty good to stretch after a massage, because it's like a workout.
And definitely take the time to work on posture. But also let the body rest, yes it's very conflicting!
@alyx I usually find it does settle down after a few days, but if you're still sore it might be worth having a follow up (if you can) to release what was uncovered by the first session. Not every massage therapist can do that sort of targeted work though.
@alyx yeah, those are fun! As soon as we have an income again I'll be trying to get a regular massage
