so my bank's app requires an android version higher than my junker phone supports, now. so that's why i couldn't find it in the app store.

@alyx This feels like discrimination. There's really nothing the latest Android offers that the typical bank needs to carry out its business
@cypnk to be specific my old phone is 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 (forget) and the app now requires 5.0
i don't have the android technical background to know but i wouldn't be surprised to hear that something important changed between those now rather old versions
@alyx There may be some bugs, but most of the security lapses are going to be at the bank itself. Either a hack or ransomware or something else mundane. Only thing I can think of is easier development, which means it’s about saving cash for them
