successfully hemmed and hawwed on a cyber monday phone purchase until it went safely out of stock
+1 for team kinda-need-a-new-phone-but-this-2013-piece-of-crap-still-technically-works-so-let's-see-how-much-longer-we-can-ride-this-thing-into-the-ground
@gcupc that's what i have!
due to rooting/technical issues (and android just being awful) i can no longer flash it to fix/renew its ailing stock OS. so it gets worse and worse.
this model has always had a major RAM problem, performing worse (constant redraws / data loss upon app switching) than even its modest 1GB would suggest
@gcupc i'm with republic wireless so custom roms were never an option. won't make that mistake again :) they did save me a lot of money tho. can't argue with $10-15 phone bills
agree, the camera is Real Bad. on the bright side it can obscure skin blemishes?
@alyx Heck! I'm on Ting, so...if I were willing/able to keep my data usage down, I could have a cheap phone bill. They won't provide any support if you install a custom ROM, but whatever.
@gcupc that's who i'm switching to! they seem very reasonable.
@alyx Yeah, I had that experience with RAM on it. It's a lot better under LineageOS, but some of the basic "be a phone and work with my carrier" stuff is a lot worse.
I do think I'll get whatever the latest Moto G version is when this one fully dies. I've been pleased with everything about it except the RAM and the camera.
