oh my GAWD W10 just updated my nvidia driver to the latest buggy one without asking. that's why the system went down earlier today
what the fuck. thought i had that shit disabled.
i imagine a moderate percentage of folks following these tweets are just like "why doesn't she switch to linux already"
@alyx i've asked myself that a lot ever since i upgraded to 10. the problems with linux are different but not necessarily better.
so far the bullshit scales are still slightly tipped in favor of windows but we'll see how long that lasts.
@matt mm. my main reason is gaming NOT THAT I PLAY MUCH ANYMORE.
i understand that you can do some sort of (is it even emulation? i don't mean WINE) GPU passthrough in Linux that lets you run WIndows games at only a small performance hit. sounded tricky to setup though.
@alyx @matt do you mean the gallium-nine thing that implements direct3d on mesa? er, i guess that involves wine... oh, like running a Windows VM with a virtualized GPU that passes stuff through to the host's GL?
