latest project: learning to sleep on my back
as i work on posture i've become concerned with the angles of my neck and shoulders when i do my traditional side-sleep positions
related, two times in the last month, including these last two days, i've had movement-impairing neck pain. i used to get that more a couple years ago; not sure why it ceased for a while. anyway, posture posture posture, even when asleep.
@varx (oh, i don't see the connection between RSI and sleeping position?)
@varx oh i see. i usually see RSI in relation to small muscles in the hands and such, probably source of my confusion
@alyx Yeah! That's where my symptoms usually are, but it turns out the source is a nerve getting irritated by nearby muscles in my chest and neck. (I also learned that physical therapists think laptops are evil.)
@alyx Oh, I might be using the wrong term, but it's a cumulative workplace-induced injury resulting in an impinged nerve in my neck or shoulders. (Bad laptop posture.)
I was expecting that sleeping on my side would exacerbate it, but even when I had the wrong number of pillows to prop up my head that didn't cause a flare-up. I guess that's a side-to-side posture thing, maybe, and work posture is forward-backward so it's different...
