ah, i think it annoyingly kept fighting with another app i run to keep my two monitors' color profiles applied during the day -- flicking between color profile and f.lux (which during the day = no color profile) every two seconds, so i stopped running f.lux and never started again

i guess i could make an autohotkey that runs f.lux only after sunset and closes it in morning
