a 0-follower account that just followed me solely exists to promote a shitty facebook videos page w/ 600k followers.
they had a :white_check_mark: in their username as if to say hey kids, i'm down with teh mastodons.
if mastodon continues to be a hot thing i'm curious how the forces of mcevil will attempt to colonize it, and to what level of success.

@alyx i think it is fucking rude of them to be acting like this, especially since they said that to *gnusocial people*.
also, they are on a server ran by a volunteer who asks for donations to keep it running.
i'm sure eventually lots of people will unfortunately figure out how to make money from an instance. i guess it's a good thing this person can't think out of the box. i guess that is why their bio advertises a fucking facebook page.

@alyx i just got the time to check. they actually have 200+ followers if you look at it from their instance.
seems they already had a discussion with their instance admin about it where it was deemed okay because it's not being spammed everywhere, it's just in the bio. i can understand that, but i'm still going to block them.
they also apparently don't want to start their own instance because "there's no return or any benefit other than having a community you can't monetize"
