i get super antsy when cis people say things like "you go girl!" (that's their favorite) or "what will you ladies be having?" and other unnecessarily gendered things
the latter is maybe me being oversensitive sometimes, but definitely not all the time.
i assume it comes from a desire to affirm and support but in reality it feels like they just spotted the trans and want to let them in on their keen insight. no need, thank you.
p.s. to the dudebros: don't blithely address trans OR cis women with "hey dude" or "hey man" either, because then we're forced to either stew in silence or call it out, which leads to other problems
cis ppl addressing trans wimmin Afficher plus
@alyx What I find most annoying is when we get a waiter or cashier who refers to a group of women as "Ladies," but if they see me and some cis women at a table, they then say, "Guys."
I dress pretty femmey. I'm kind of obsessed with wearing outfits that make it clear I have breasts, since I think that tips the scale towards people getting I'm not a guy. But my voice is hardly great, so I guess they either read me as "crossdresser" or "not female enough to be a ~lady~." It could be they're just cycling through words, but I worry it's the worst case.
