in that case it's likely the fungus has hijacked the motor functions, taking over the host body
it's teeth are those of an herbivore, and it's momentarily distracted by that unnaturally small, overly full bowl of cereal

just realized the beanstrosity is actually vomiting the "cereal" / "milk" concoction onto the spoon, hence the powerful splash
that established, it's now obvious that the bowl is a nest and each cocoalicious puff some sort of egg or spore
therefore the box is an elaborate ruse to trick humans into consuming these immature monster larvae, no doubt leading to the next stage of the creature's lifecycle
