if someone reacts negatively to you and it's not really your fault and likely due to something on their end, you shouldn't feel very bad or take it personally, right?

suspect a well-developed sense of self-confidence is a key factor. and an ability to be OK with people not being warm toward you 24/7.

i'm fine, really, just a weird interaction with a semi-new friend where like, they were saying something wishy-washy, but clearly meaning something else, so i pushed a little more and then a harsher, less pleasant stance emerged, without any factual support. but i knew it was pointless to probe further.
it was about something trivial in the greater scheme of things, but something i care about.
sometimes i have enough social intelligence to notice subtext but not enough, when it concerns something i care about, to just accept the disappointing outcome and let it go
