@SuzanEraslan they are listed as Theatre 1 and Advanced Theatre so that the students can earn a fine arts credit, but the teacher before me was teaching them as "Acting for TV and Film" with a few staged performances because the parents think it's cute to have their sweet baby perform in a play. I want to go full-on Filmmaking with it because that's what the kids want to do. basically, it's weird because they don't have a theater set-up but it's expected to be theatre classes.

@SuzanEraslan I will probably be doing that. I have two classes to set up in advance for Theatre and basically no guidance so it's going to be a steep learning curve. 💕

@SuzanEraslan thank you for actually answering my question you are an unspecified gender fancy person and a scholar.

@DialMforMara mint, probably. but I'm from the Sweet Tea region of America, so I'm probably culturally biased.

@theartguy there is a tanning salon in my town named Tanfastic and it is seriously one of my favorite things ever.

@ralaningalls The school is very student centered and the kids are expected to fail early and fail often.

@ralaningalls Other than dabbling and genuine interest, not very, other than a history and critique of American film class. These are "Theatre" classes at a STEM school that doesn't have an auditorium. The style of both classes has been that the teacher would give an assignment, have the kids figure out how to do it, give them feedback, and then they turn in a second edit. I want to do something a little more structured.

@ralaningalls The Advanced class would be able to do some of that. All of the students have MacBook Airs and some have equipment outside of school.

@ralaningalls The Theatre 1 course will be more technical knowledge, but still pretty soft. It's high school kids and they're often filming on iPhones. The Advanced class will be a Storytelling Through Film class. They've taken the other class with the previous teacher (who just retired).

I get to teach a filmmaking course next year, and I want to use film clips as examples. If I wanted to use a specific scene from a film, what would be the best way to cut the scene I want? Should I download it as a certain type of file? Can I cut it up in iMovie? Basically, what I'm saying here is HALP!

I just finished writing a short series of three blog posts about the basics of using a knitting stitch pattern from a stitch dictionary or similar.

Here's the first post; the others are linked from it: gannetdesigns.com/2017/04/03/t

finally starting Sherlock series 4. I swear, if nobody says "no shit, Sherlock" to Benedict Cumberbatch this series, I'm going to throw a fit.

People complaining about free speech on Mastodon instancesfeels like cis straight people complaining about not not having a place at the pride. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU, FUCKING IDIOT. Choose your instance and love it. Your instance may not be a perfectly neutral place and that's the fucking point of having multiple instances in the network. Find your place or make one. Don't go to someone else's and fuck it up for jealously. It's disgusting.

@PinkCathodeCat @XOR yeah, I think you would have to have the strongest core, ever.

It certainly seems to flourish in places such as Brighton and Glastonbury, not Cambridge and Hampstead"

@CBrachyrhynchos I like to throw lighter shawls in the bag in case the restaurant is cold.
