@SuzanEraslan same. I've been going through my old livejournal and copying it to a Google doc because I'm like that. it's way more interesting than any time I ever tried to write a Blog Post™.

@Anke I don't think that's curating! what you are describing is both personal and personalized. I think that's genuine connection with people via the internet.

@BleuTortue on some level, I think it also plays into personal ego - getting others to buy into their personal brand by buying into the idea of a personal brand. one person gets successful as a life coach or selling upcycled luggage on etsy and everyone else falls in line.

maybe social media should go to hell and can be where we bitch about Morrissey and the weather.

I originally got on social media (before we even called it that) because I wanted to share, but I always ended up taking in more than I put out. This was ok back when social media was other individuals, before it was "content" and before we were told we should be concerned about the kind of "content" we were "curating" and how that would effect our "personal brand." 🤐

@viTekiM I'm so close to deleting mine, too. Having posts out of order is so pointless and I miss posts I care about when I never used to.

I just found ANOTHER tumblr account! what is wrong with me?

@yellowibowtie yep. i signed up for it this morning. now I just have to make the writing thing happen. 😅

I think there's an artist hidden in the bottom of every single one of us. There are no mistakes. You can fix anything that happens.

I think if I can ever start writing again, it'll be a newsletter situation where it emails directly to people rather than a blog that is just *out there* for anyone to stumble across. Feels safer.

I'd already made sure there wasn't anything that could get me fired on my Instagram, but after seeing how disruptive it was to class once one student had access to a teacher's photos, it's not worth it.

What makes me really sad is that a colleague added one student (who had sent him multiple requests and confronted him in person) to his private Instagram account. Instagram isn't really fun for me unless I'm able to post publicly and use tags, but I've had to make mine private now because Instagram suggests profiles of the friends of the people you're following.

I deleted 6 tumblrs yesterday (even the soft porn one ☹️). I wasn't really using tumblr anymore, so I figured it was better not to have something out there that students could find.

@saper I hope so. Students have zero sympathy for sick teachers!

@vjgoh yeah, I'm always jealous of beautiful sketchbooks.

two days in a row, I have slept until 10. please let me be healthy tomorrow.

@vjgoh I love it! I first read about commonplace books recently. I've been keeping journals in a similar way off and on for years now, but they're a lot more messy.

@filkerdave Hot Fuzz, Apocalypse Now, V for Vendetta, Big Fish... I usually start new friendships with poop jokes, but this will work.

@filkerdave yes, I watched Crimson Peak this morning. 😅
