i'm shredding!
me, shredding mail from the human rights campaign (which is good): what about the human right not to get mail
@sireebob HRC is bad, actually
@agaric oh good i was hoping someone would say this, i am very open to this opinion
@sireebob if u want me to elaborate i can
@sireebob heh gotcha. mostly i just think they're a ridiculous organization that has a history of campaigning for gay rights (namely marriage) under the veil of "human rights" while largely ignoring trans issues (theyve gotten better at this recently) and partnering with large companies that manufacture products in sweatshops and have really bad politics. they also get soooo much funding and dont really have a lot to show for it, but their executives get really large salaries. its all kind of a scam imo.
since when is marriage a human right anyways?

@agaric oh grossss,
i'm kinda with you there, as far as marriage... always seemed like more of a religious thing to me. my not-totally-educated view is we ought to upgrade civil unions or offer some sort of equivalent, convert all marriages to that in the view of the law, and expel marriage from legal consideration.
my view on the "gay marriage" thing eventually grew into "well, i guess this means they don't all totally hate us, which seems good, even though i don't care about marriage"
