@guerrillarain I don't know how close is too close to avoid getting destroyed by tidal forces. I do know that as you approach it you'd see the accretion disk bulge up around the black hole due to gravitational lensing. And as you enter the black hole (looking back out into space) you'll see the entire sky distort into a sort of dome above you as the black hole appears to engulf and surround you.
