@clovery It's extremely common, I've found. And sometimes, like in the cause of people with PTSD and justified paranoia from their background, it's entirely understandable that they'd be afraid for themselves, but it also is annoying that they make assumptions.
@clovery @Concerned_Catgirl Of course there's those that would innately believe me over them out of simply being part of my "in-group", and I try hard not to exploit that. But I'm only mortal and know I might fuck up someday.
But there's a LOT more people that, when confronted between a narrative between two people, immediately jump to side against the "aggressor", and their language is often revealing. Like for instance: "I'm not sure if this person abused before, but I SURE know the person being loud is being abusive [by mentioning this publicly]." Said after blocking me.
@clovery @Concerned_Catgirl Yeah, when I did a big callout against an abuser, I did so only after asking around and establishing a pattern of behavior, and because they were still blackmailing others and shifting the narrative to practice social control over others, and my reputation helped shield people in coming out against them.
@Concerned_Catgirl I find this an issue nearly everywhere I go. It's either this, or people out each other all the time over every single little thing and distort the facts in their favor.
