@chara @Ulfra_Wolfe As far as I can tell, it's a glitch in cognition resting on two assumptions that are hard to shake even when one knows they're there. #1, "everyone thinks & feels with my same pattern of reactions" -> #2, "therefore I can reverse engineer motives from actions by asking 'what I would I have been thinking, to make me do that?'."

From there, well, people who have little compassion for themselves are unlikely to extend it to others.

@Ulfra_Wolfe @chara So you have that subset, plus an active-malice subset, less the subset who do neither. I may be being uncharitable, but I don't think I'm all that wrong.
