I think this is a good question, in part because of the misconception of what "AI" actually is.
AI is essentially the "software" analogue to physical automation, in terms of what we grasp as AI
if an "emergent AI" comes to exist that is a humanlike mind but with greater thought capacity, greater overall knowledge, greater capacity for self-analysis, etc. -- we, by definition, will not understand it.

if it's a "lesser or equal" AI, I would agree
but a "greater than" AI would, IMO, just route around the problem if possible and create another AI surreptitiously
think of the botnets and such -- if this thing is actually more capable than any human at all tasks, then by definition, it can beat every security system to keep it contained available
