is space engineers any good?

@TipsyTentacle define "good".

It's an interesting thing to do small-scale infrastructure design in. But it's basically advanced minecraft.

@Draekos can i build equally cool structures as minecraft? what about space ships?

@TipsyTentacle oh! yeah! My last project was an escort carrier, 4 light fighters and a heavier bomber sort of thing. Was actually poking at retrofitting the design with remote control instead, but that has range limits. I like designing ships but like..... THEN what?

@TipsyTentacle @Draekos the thing with Space Engineers is it's extremely obtuse in most regards and the AI is quite bad, it either shoots at you or ignores you (last time I checked it years ago)

@TipsyTentacle I have it and it's pretty fun :3
(But the time I bought it, it was only 14€ and i was amased of how it grew since 2013 and now)

@TipsyTentacle There's also a great community that make tons of mods and you can either play in sandbox, on adventure maps or doing roleplay with friends

@Louise hm... i should actually open it since i have a computer that can maybe handle it now

@TipsyTentacle the "campaign" last i played it was maybe an hour long, besides that it's a sandbox

@TipsyTentacle it's good gameplaywise, with huge potential for MMO - you could run a station with many people doing different jobs. You can play singleplayer too but i think it gets boring after a while - all you do is: make ships, make stations, mine resources (with ships or manually), chase AI ships destroy and salvage them. Game also has open source engine.

However, it is laggy and performance hungry, with my 980 and i5 it struggles with even basic scenes.
