I should design a board game about building and operating a factory

I wonder how best to make such a game competitive. I think I'd go for cards over a board, because using a board implies that all the players are working in the same factory, whereas with cards each player would build their own factory represented by their deck. Hrm, Yet Another Deck-Building Game?

@kara_dreamer you could do it in a tableu style. :P
