@bea @TipsyTentacle Works the other way, too. A gay friend once told eggmode me she'd had a confusing crush on me for a while, which made me just bafflingly happy to hear.

@TipsyTentacle @bea it is such an eggmode thing! i know several stories of couples where one person realizes they're a lesbian and the other a trans women in a beautiful mess.

@bea @TipsyTentacle i know of two other than us and i'm dismally antisocial so knowing three instances makes me feel confident in saying it's a thing

@pointers @TipsyTentacle @bea this was me, except my wife is bi. but yeah. we joke she knew before i did, which is sad and accurate. in the years leading up to figuring it out, i was always like "hmmmm i just feel safer with gays? and most of our friends are lesbians? i am such a good *ally*"

and then after I came out all our friends were like "yeah this makes perfect sense, you were one of us the whole time"

@pointers @TipsyTentacle @bea @nergdron A lot of my circles came out in all their various ways after we already knew each other, so it's like we kind of drifted out of cishet space before we realized the scope of what was going on?

@pointers @bea @TipsyTentacle I always say that my unconscious had my back, even as my conscious mind was busy repressing and disassociating. moved to the gayest city I could think of, and immediately started dating a bi lady doing a degree in gender studies. like. saved my life probably.

@TipsyTentacle but yah, I would probably have felt really validated by that poster. That just would have been a Bad Thing for me, or at least one more side trip.
