ghost tentacle @TipsyTentacle

I only ever played D&D once and it was in high school. We ended up fighting the city guards and getting arrested instead of killing the elven bandits so... -shrug emoji-

@TipsyTentacle dnd is fun and it's even more fun when u make it gay and full of dumb anime stuff. Orcs sparkle and are beautiful princesses

@Caramelqp
this sounds like a D&D I can get into.
orc princesses and monster girls pl0x.

we were asking around the market for leads on finding the bandits and one of us thought it would be a good idea to be a bad cop and punch the merchant. it all went downhill from there. (':

@TipsyTentacle When I played D&D and Shadowrun, I was trying to be a tough guy. Which... I had no idea about. So I got drunk all the time, jumped into fights to kill with my sword (ignoring that I was smarter than that), and well...

Let's just say I have TONS of embarrassment and, on top of it, I was NOT the easiest person to play with or be around in general.

@TipsyTentacle Honestly, DnD is actually pretty terrible for people who are unfamiliar with tabletop games so it kinda sucks that it's by far the most popular one.

@Noelle808
What would you recommend for newbies, mew?

@TipsyTentacle @Noelle808 Hmmmm. Shadowrun can be kinda daunting bit I find char creation interesting in what you can load up with. Eclipse Phase is a wonderful setting, the system isn't too perfect...

I heard some good things about BESM, myself, especially for anime fans.

@TipsyTentacle There are a lot of games in a ton of different genres that use this same basic system, called "Powered By the Apocalypse" games (because they're all based off a game called Apocalypse World)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powered_

@Ulfra_Wolfe @TipsyTentacle @Noelle808 One of those games I'd really recommend for a non-D&D sort of thing would be Monster Hearts, which is more of a teenage drama focused game using the supernatural elements as metaphor for for things like vanity, dependence, etc. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsterh

@Noelle808 @TipsyTentacle @Ulfra_Wolfe For something really silly and casual I'd actually recomend one of the games that got me into the hobby: Maid RPG. If you get past the weeb stuff it's a comedy game that's based around a competitive elements and working off of random tables for events, character traits, items, etc. Even character creation is basically trying to make a coherent character out of the sort of nonsense you're given. But it gets really chaotic and fun.

@Ulfra_Wolfe @TipsyTentacle @Noelle808 But other than that, I actually forgot about this little multiple choice list that's good entry level sort of variety of games organized by what your interests are. docs.google.com/document/d/19E

@TipsyTentacle But yeah, if you want to try any table top RPGs, me and Berserk in the discord would definitely be up for it. We're both very open for trying all sorts of different stuff. But obviously not trying to push you into it.

@TipsyTentacle

I think I've played D&D...twice or three times in my life. Was much more a White Wolf teenager.

Instead of half-elf rangers, we made trenchcoat guys with katanas.

@TipsyTentacle It was also *stunningly* cliched for the setting, but we were kids and what can you expect?
