@MJBlacke Oh no, I have it all built out in my mind. It's a portfolio and blog, and I have the design all worked out, basically. I was going to build it from scratch, probably using a foundation boilerplate on Wordpress.
I think I should focus on getting a proper site up, at the moment, above all else. It's necessary for employment, and all else can come with it, y'know?
Thank you!
@hypolite Thank you for the offer, but I think I'm just skittish about dropping cash on things right now. I have the money, I'm just nervous about it in general, haha.
Thanks again, though! This has helped push me into making a decision. :)
@hypolite I presently do not. I'm not quite sure what to go for atm, but I was looking at Digital Ocean as a host.
Silicon Valley thinks we are in a moment of “anti-tech sentiment”
Loooool no we just finally woke up the masses to the San Francisco business model. Notice that nobody’s mad at Intel! Nobody’s complaining about how VLC killed a woman testing some machinery. Nobody thinks propaganda in Mint Linux tainted a presidential election. No buddy that’s an anti-corruption sentiment you’re catching. You have a corrupted business model.
@hypolite Haha, I feel you!
I'm working on building a site, the one concern I have is money.
@hypolite I could, but that feels kind of like a half-measure when it comes to creating my own site, haha. I dunno. I might just focus on building the site.
I have the sketches for my site done, and the design phase is going to be incredibly simple. It's the costs that I've been worried about.
I imagine it'll pay for itself, but it still bothers me.
@hypolite @LogicalDash Not keen on Medium for Reasons, unfortunately.
(Gets off of bus.)
Wow, here I am in Mastodon! The Silicon Peach! The Paris of the Internet!
Gosh, I may be a simple, bright-eyed farm girl from downtown Toronto with nothing but a pocket full of toonies and a head full of dreams, but something tells me I can really make something of myself here!
Which I've been putting off for aeons.
Honestly I think the only solution is to build my own damned site.
I want to start writing out research papers, but not like, actual research papers, again.
I want to start with that accessibility-for-underserved-disabilities project I was talking about before.
Where's a good place to put long-form content like research work? I don't have a website yet.
I know a lot of folks on the Fediverse struggle to pay bills and buy food. I'm a former welfare clerk. Would there be any interest in a quick guide on applying for benefits, especially food stamps/SNAP?
Yes, the welfare application process is a pain in the ass. This is by design, and nobody likes it. Not recipients, not welfare employees. Well, right-wing politicians like it because it means they can keep welfare rolls down, but fuck them.
If you need help with food, it's worth your time to apply for benefits. Your taxes pay for them, after all. It's there for you.
Aaaaaaaaand now I'm listening to this gem.

Rez OST Track 5: Adam Freeland - Fear (Rez Edit)
So I have weaved mad pagan scientist with music now.
God I want to make things.
Like, think of she's album Coloris, mixed with manipulated acoustic instruments and anarchist lyrics.
I'm not good at describing the thoughts I have.
Right now I'm thinking of this whole Folk Cyberpunk being some weird amalgamation of The Glitch Mob, she, Mischief Brew and Against Me!.
