I need more good Doctor Who in my life. Please Chris Chibnall, don't let me down.
I truly love some of Steven Moffat's works. And the gods know that I defended him and his team's work when they started working on Doctor Who, because lot of the criticism that was addressed to them was just mean, reactionary and unfair.
But looking back, I really think his work actually damaged the series :/.
@Sylvhem hi, I'm only salty about all the episodes where girls die or are rescued because they can't fight their own battles
@Efi Of course, they can't. They are girls, they need help for that 🙃.
@Efi The worst part was this episode was actually one of the high of this season :/.
@Efi Series 7 is the one where everything is starting to get bad --'.
@Sylvhem and the whole mysterious astronaut deal before that was just plain awful and overhyped
@Efi That was cool at first. But the final revelation was kinda meh. That's almost always the case with Moffat.
But to be frank, that's not my problem with his work. If it was just that, it would just have been some bad series. But he also introduced some *huge* continuity problems and a lot of bullshit in the canon.
@Sylvhem yep, Dr Who used to be whatever, but you can't go full big arches and then ignore your whole canon
like Bad Wolf happened and then, somehow, unhappened
and yeah, too many things to count
at least Don't Blink was really good (but he had to make a sequel...)
@Efi There was a lot of explanation for those things. One of the things that Russel T. Davids have been praised for, is all is work to make the canon (including old bizarre plots) the more coherent possible. The Time War was used for that.
But Moffat wanted some cool new toys so he throw off everything :/.
@Sylvhem each thing I remember as cool from Dr Who is immediately followed by a "and then they did that" ;w;
@Efi Yes (╥_╥).
@Sylvhem glad I stopped at that one
