Linux under the GPL version 3 : when?

Sylvhem @Sylvhem

@wxcafe @luluberlu The first point is a really good one.
As for the second point, see .

@Sylvhem @luluberlu whatever, he still holds the copyright on a good chunk of the kernel (and he's right on this particular issue, being an asshole doesn't mean he's wrong)

@wxcafe Oh of course. You can be an asshole and be right. Actually, Linus Torvald is right on a lot of things.
But I'm not sure to understand why he is right this time.

@luluberlu

@wxcafe Merci pour l’explication ! Ça m’éclaire pas mal.

Can't some contributors make their contributions specifically GPLv3, making tivoization effectively impossible without redoing their part ?

(or is it practically impossible, or impossible because GPLv2 and GPLv3 are incompatible ?)

@Nocta @Sylvhem @luluberlu I think it's impossible because then other contributors using GPLv2 wouldn't be able to touch these parts and it'd become a nightmare to debug.

also tivoization isn't the kernel's problem.

@wxcafe @luluberlu @Sylvhem

When I think about it it's what it means for them to be incompatible, forget my question x)
