I wonder why the French National Day is called Bastille Day in English-speaking countries 🤔.
@luluberlu Yes. This day doesn't even commemorate the storming of the Bastille XD.
@Sylvhem because the storming of the Bastille was pretty cool
@vi Yes, but the French National Day doesn't commemorate the storming of the Bastille. It commemorates the Federation Festival (Fête de la Fédération).
@luluberlu @vi … I must admit you're perfectly right XD.
@Sylvhem it's not our fault you all celebrate the wrong day 😋
@Sylvhem Because it was first called Bastille day and them "Fête nationale" in France?
And I think calling it « Prise de la Bastille » is still correct.
@lanodan_wtch But the 14 July doesn't directly celebrate the Bastille storming but the Federation Festival, which was choosen because it was a symbol of peace and national unity.
@Sylvhem ugggh
So annoying
