OK, they say that you can use #LBRY to share any content. Still the app features almost exclusively videos, and the search functionality at this point is not very useful.

Like, how could I search other content than videos? Just by guessing random names?

And if I'm only interested in, say, ebooks and not the least in videos, why must I load the whole blockchain containing mostly videos?

Not very efficient or appealing system at this point.

OK so here it is, our loot from the book fair today.

In total we bought 29 books, but 7 of them are for gift (and duplicates of books we have already in our own self) and not included here. So, 22 new books to our home library. That'll do for about 2 to 3 months.

If you wonder what the language is, it's Finnish. There's only one non-Finnish book in our loot.

@thor this is pretty much the same I've heard from some Mensans: intelligent people don't necessarily act any wiser, they just arrive to their conclusion faster.

Book fair was a hoarding success. We have a cabin-size suitcase full of books (about 25 books, I guess). I'll post pics when we're at home.

But... it has been snowing. It'll be a nightmare to struggle that suitcase 1 km from station to home. Of course the last bus has gone by then.

Every time I'm bored enough to have a look at Jodel, I'm on a train. And of course that's the place where I can't set my home location properly.

So I guess I don't really need Jodel.

@soma I'm a person who reads a lot of books, but nowadays I'm very inclined to do practical and small scale things that can really matter for a small amount of people.

One reason is that because of old traumas from sectarian infights I get physically nauseous from some political discussions.

But also there's that, that when people do practical things and they see results in real humans, they grow more empathetic and want to do spread the good.

And that is usually so much better than some bookwise edgy cult blogger ranting about what must be done and what must absolutely not be done (without actually doing much else than ranting).

@soma Also, as such, they are not very good leaders of people in general, as they can't adapt to different situations with different people.

And that is an endless source of leftist infighting, which has always been a serious curse and hindrance.

@soma ”Read a lot of books” is an answer by someone who reads a lot of books (and because of that their theoretical knowledge is admired and they are seen as a leader or authority, thus having authority to say ”read a lot of books (and become like me)” in the first place).

It stems from the general fallacy that one solution fits all. It doesn't take in account the personal strengths and weaknesses of individual persons.

And many people saying so have just the weakness that they don't see their own strengths as personal strengths but as general qualities of human beings.
