A proper translation of TOOT! in Finnish would be one of the following:
- TÖÖTTÄÄ! (sound of a car horn)
- TUUTTAA! (the same, but also euphemism for fart)
- TÖRÄYTÄ! (sound of an elephant, but also euphemism for fart)
I'd recommend the second of these.
Who's doing this translation stuff anyway?
@Stoori Hey, don't blame me, it's just how "Toot" is translated when you switch default langage to Finnish in Mastodon's settings. :-) "Publicar" isn't a proper translation either. What does "Taklenna muutokset" actually mean ?
@Willvs Don't worry, I wasn't blaming you, I got it was the default translation.
”Tallenna muutokset” means ”save changes”. I guess it has been used as a translation for ”submit” in some odd context and then just copied to another context without revising.
@Stoori Dammit, I put down the wrong word >_< For this toot, I spent half an hour switching from one langage to another one in the settings, saving changes, watching the result, writing it down, then switching to another langage again and so on. Except I mistakenly copied the Finnish "save changes" button instead of the Finnish "toot!" button. Mistake is actually mine >_< Sorry about that...
