Another movie theaters tip:

They offer subtitles! All you have to do is go up to the front desk and say "hey I'd like a subtitles thingy for <show>".

Most places, it's a long-focal-length screen on a gooseneck that you can position to the edge of your field of view.

At some newer theaters, they have glasses that project the subs directly over the screen.

I use the subs every time.

Yesterday, I attended a funeral of a trans girl in my circles who committed suicide. Little did we know that we were walking into a setup.

Beforehand, my friends (that I made on Mastodon) were assured that the ceremony would be respectful and they would respect Natalie's wishes of having a funeral with her name and image intact.

Obviously, that wasn't the case. She was placed in her casket not only wearing a suit, but also her face wearing makeup to make her more masculine. She was also wearing a hat that covered her hair.

We were absolutely livid. We wanted to get to the bottom of this, so all of us went to the funeral home director and started to speak with him, at first he started to say that it was the parents who wanted to it done that way, but something didn't add up as he went on about the laws about a woman living and dying in Washington with a legal name change, but how their hands were tied in California.

BULL FUCKING SHIT!

You see, the ordinary person would not know of what loopholes to exploit to say that California law would have the next of kin decide how to have the funeral done, but at the same time, ignore the 2014 California law that mandates that any funeral of a trans person in California must be used using the names and pronoun the deceased has used. The funeral home is complicit with not only disrespecting Natalie, but also desecrating her body. We are planning to fight this loophole in court. We have made contact with Lambda Legal and the whole transgender community is behind us 100% to make sure that this must not happen again.
