@jk *ahem* I think you'll find that realtime raytracing is (almost) *very* possible with the simple step of disabling most of the tracing of the rays, and running your viewport in 640x480!!!!!

@StarshipAmelia someones either already done this or will steal the idea, but id like to make a game which started with a kinda PS1-style low-res prerendered FMV intro, and then the game starts, and you realise it wasn't an intro, it's realtime, and that's just what the game looks like, and everything you're doing is being rendered & encoded as MPEG-1 on-the-fly
