@bossposs I've been using the TP-LINK WDR4300 for about 1.5 years now with no issues, but that's with the LEDE firmware, so I can't speak to the quality of the stock firmware.
It's also out of stock in many places but can be found cheapish (between 5$ and 40$) on ebay.
Maybe a good place to start looking at least?
@StarshipAmelia the fact that it's a router that supports custom firmware in 2017 is, uh, a pleasant surprise? i thought customizable hardware was dead >_>
@bossposs Quite a few still do it seems, the LEDE Project is the go-to location for non-x86-based routers from what I hear. (Openwrt is another good option but iirc most of the devs moved from openwrt to LEDE?)
