if you're running masto off master or glitchsoc you will need to have the dev version of a pam library installed for your next update to go smoothly
on ubuntu 16.04 that means libpam0g-dev
this is due to the addition of the rpam2 gem to support pam authentication presumably

@bea @elomatreb LDAP is useful with e.g. if you have enterprise network and you need to keep accounts synced between email, self-hosted git, mastodon, etc
