LB: I've grown to love Mastodon quite a bit, and I've grown here, but this still isn't really what I think a microblogging platform should be like
it's still looking toward the Twitter model, too much
the user should be decentered, and the _conversation_ exalted as the prime unit, and users should be free to control access to conversations they start, or to drop in on conversations for only as long as they like without having to _request_ being removed from them
@kara focus on conversation, they said
@SoniEx2 ah, well, on my ideal platform, methods of instantaneous, effort-free interaction wouldn't even exist
I'd keep favoriting but nobody else would see it, it'd be more like sending an "I like you" by private message
and no reboosting. which I know seems anathema, but I think a lot of inadvertent evil comes from verbatim reboosting.
@kara So we should ban talking to ppl about things you didn't 100% come up with on your own, got it.
@kara Oh. Boosts are already optional. But you still get to see "LB: <garbage about something you never saw>" stuff. I'm trying to fix that + add some more social stuff around boosting.
