why is "set background=dark" not a default option in vim? do people still use black-on-white terminal emulators frequently enough?
@devurandom Don't you ? It's so much easier on the eye.
@Sasha well, it seemed to me like the default setting in most distros and desktop environments is white on either black or some other dark color (like semitransparent purple in ubuntu)...
@devurandom That's true. The key is not to use a desktop environment ;) Anyway, it's hard to find a default that suits everyone so, I don't know ? Maybe the person who chose that default for vim uses a light-background terminal ?
