If internet as proven anything, it's that power is taken by pricks most often than not.
I mean the gafa have obvious flaws, Stack Overflow and Wikipedia are run by some "elit"... Reddit has some moderation problems too. (understatement is my kink too, yes... )
And mastodon is far from perfect in this matter. The good thing though is changing instance is... if not easy, at least not as radical as just stopping using it and losing every contact you had there. But it's new, so maybe I'm still a bit too optimistic about it.
So it raises the question : How do you stop people aggregating power?

It's not perfect but it's a start. Decentralised web has some issue too when it comes too verifying informations.
Education is still the best way to limit the effect of power aggregation, but in itself I don't think it is enough. :/
