Follow you artist advice on how to take care for your tattoo
It will start to itch and peel, don't scratch and peel it, or it will heal badly.
It's very important to moisturize it, but also to not do it too much, to let the skin breath, so the tattoo can heal. For most ointments, you can use them twice a day, but always check what's correct for the one you're using.
Don't shower with hot water, and once your shower is done, pat dry your tattoo.
Be careful on the first few days, because the tattoo might stain your clothes and bedding.
When it's healed, put sunscreen on it when going into the sun.

Try to stay still, if the position you're in is uncomfortable, tell the artist that you need to move.
However, you will get tiny spams, and that is normal.
Dress for it : something comfy, you're going to stay in the same position for hours, and think that the artist need access to the area being tattooed. (My tattoo artist also recommended me to wear black clothes)
In USA-Canada (I think) : tip, between 20%-25%. It's not necessary in Europe, for what I know, but a bit of research before going to another country to get tattooed can't hurt ^^
