@transientgirl because we're in witches town.
Because we can and because it's fun.
I find the use of the term "late capitalism" hopelessly optimistic
"Let's play a game, to help some of the newcomers make connections: name 5-7 things that interest you but aren't in your profile, as tags so they are searchable. Then boost this post or repeat its instructions so others know to do the same."
@oneiro none that I know of. I think my take of a room of one's own would be someone carving their own space and have it invaded by other people who complain of "just trying to be nice" when told to leave.
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a newly booted web server must be in want of a bot constantly attacking /wp-login.php
@pobocks that expression gives me nightmares and flashbacks from a previous job that was into start up culture a little bit too much.
The thing I love about Mastodon is that people are opening up specific instances. All have their own focus. Like IRC had their rooms we now seem to have Instances. I mean, even furries have their meow.social instance. Awesome, right? Cc @Siphonay https://social.tchncs.de/media/5AvFrH9DQTrv-XReNcs
PSA: If you are in the web view of a remote instance of some user or toot, you cannot directly reply/boost/fav.
But you can copypaste the URL into your local Mastodon server's "Search" field, then it allows you to interact!
Wasn't obvious to me, so maybe boost this if it helped you. :)
mastodon is like the opposite of d day in that a bunch of americans are storming the beaches of france to escape a nazi scourge
Oh, yes, my #introduction!
Everyone calls me Rumpel and I code on "serious companies" by day and make games and maintain a videogame blog by night. The blog is called http://mata.juegos and you can play my games at http://rumpelcita.itch.io
I have three cats and I think one of them is my husbando.
Ultimately Mastodon's killer feature is that it's a public good that someone built because they thought it needed to exist and not a startup someone built because they wanted to get rich quick selling other people's data.
@polyamoryadvice I love Steven Universe.

Picture of my kitten being cute to cheer your evening.
@joshmillard same thing happens with programming. If you know how to code and try to get others to do so, you find a lot "but I'm not smart enough for that" and they don't believe you when you say most of coding is practice and hard work.
@hayden mine is rumpelcita.
I feel like "good domain names" is really the Mastodon brand so far
@BrodyBr yes, I feel the same way about Persona 3. Making friends was so gratifying there.
