So, I already knew that prairie dogs had very complex systems of warning calls.

I did *not* know that they can encode not just species, but size, and possibly color.

Nor did I know that they do this by manipulating the *individual harmonics* of each call.

That is pretty dang impressive. And it also suggests modes of speech (almost) totally alien to humans.

I propose we relabel the phenomenon "gentrifaction".

That way it's entirely parallel with "putrefy/putrefied/putrefaction".

That's something I've noticed about my compositions in the last couple years: I'm *finally* embracing dissonance, even if in circumscribed context. (E.g. a late Baroque style.)

I think that's in no small part thanks to Marin Marais, Lully's successor at the court of Versailles. He used a lot of crunchy harmonies, to good effect (and good Affekt).

Those Mexicoid scrambled eggs were delish!

When I make them, I pull out all the stops: mushrooms, spinach, vegan chorizo, salsa, capsicums, cheddar and Chihuahua cheese; plus lots of herbs and spices.

It's a real power breakfast, giving me a very rounded bundle of nutrition and calories.

This phrase has been around since the 1860s. It is a reference to organ terminology.

A rank of pipes of a given pitch and timbre is called a "stop". Organs can have many tens of these, even hundreds. Each stop is historically activated by pulling a knob out on the organ console.

An organ played with all the stops on is very, very loud. It can also be somewhat cacophonous.

So if you figuratively pull out all the stops, you're doing things almost to excess!

@Qwyrdo I *think* it has to do with certain images? There's one in my TL that seems to make Tootdon panic, but I've no idea why. Or if that's even related to its crashiness.
