Trickster 199X @Puck@witches.town

@bedlogic Have you played Oneshot? The (adorable) protag is named Niko & their gender is a low-key rorschach test of the player - I spent the entire game saying "she", others spent the entire game saying "he" or "they" and none of us thought about it, we all just projected our protective feelings onto this adorable cat person and derived gender from those feelings
Which ... is a cute name for you to share! Also thank you for your patient empathic Internet support ~

@bedlogic that's sort of how I think about it, so, yeah, it does!

I did the thing!

@bedlogic also read this as "shit in the corner"-- was pleased

@bedlogic The thing I'm grappling with is that I'm either going to feel dishonest and weird or be performing the making-it-Facebook-official version of coming out as some kind of genderqueer when I haven't even sorted out those feelings on my own!
This still somehow feels like a weirdly appropriate conversation to have with strangers?? Like its nature is still more political than personal in terms of ~sharing~

@morganastra I'M THINKIN' ABOUT IT! Few more hours of overthinking to go and then we'll be set.

I sort of want to throw pronouns into my bio to help normalize pronouns not being an on-sight thing but in meat-space I use my obvious default to maintain my moderate ~fightin' privilege~ when the occasions arise and because I'm not really comfortable with any set.
I'm 100% the person who would use "it/its" if that were cool to do/apolitical.
I'm hoping that my genderless trickster handle conveys some kind of queer ambiguity and sense of safety to strangers but it also feels like too much to ask

@shivian Hex code not Hexes 2017 [But dispelling Hexes placed on loved ones for the whole millennium!]

Hi team! I just got a handful of follows and that's a new thing for me! I'm not following anyone back yet until I get a better sense of the landscape and curating of our federated experience but I'm genuinely so touched and excited that a handful of people like words I wrote and I really like all of you!

@rkatz94 I read somewhere that it's part irony and part a declaration of "this is the instance I'm currently active on"

@kelsey Also I am tusking with you because I think that this is a really interesting and fun concept to play with but make no mistake, there is respect here because I can see that you are a Cool Dog

@shivian @wxcafe I saw the same bio and had the same emotional reaction. Thank you.

@sarahjeong is it the one that's like an old timey map featuring a tiny pouet.it in the center?

@kelsey I guess specifically I mean that the romance surrounding old-internet can have been a lived experience - although, for a counter example featuring not-even-that old-internet, the prolific imagery of Windows 95 is often created by people born in 2002.

So far I'm into how much Mastodon feels like every fictional dystopic cyberpunk BBS - the blooming politics of federations and collective vaporwave + witch + hacker imagery helps a lot. I'm living my own fantasy.

@polymerwitch Please also accept my long winded navel gazing about the transcendent experience of being with cats

@GinnyMcQueen Rude unless subtooting someone more rude!

@even_more_damned_muteKi I don't understand the joke you're making at all but I love that song so much that I am clicking "favorite" and pretending to
