Ah yeah I'm not sure still how that specific part will work. It *sounds* like They're trying to figure out how to make it all move with you but as someone who knows little to nothing about code that sounds really hard.
I'm not expecting it to happen anytime soon, anyways. :/

I don't think there will ever be a merge per se. The account migration they're working on would move you from one instance to another but wouldn't merge the two, if I'm understanding what I've read from folks correctly.

I've said it before but it bears repeating: the use of ad-blockers generally DOESN'T reflect a desire to not see any ads at all. It reflects a desire to not see ABUSIVE ads.
Pop-up ads, ads that redirect our browser to other sites, ads that flash and dance and play audio and video, ads that cover the content: this is what we're trying to avoid.
You won't get us to turn off our blockers by complaining about revenue streams.
Promise us your ads are SAFE and we'll disable our blocker for you.

Please be gentle with yourself as you create things. Stretch, drink water, breathe, take breaks. I'm trying to remind myself everyday that even if I am going and have to go slow with art, it's always progress regardless.
