Question, where do people put their art these days? My deviantArt account has been effectively dead since they started covering it in ads years ago. And I was using Tumblr year before last but ehhhh.
Do y'all just mostly post on social media and places like Patreon now?
@Anke I was afraid that's the case. I'll probably remake a Tumblr and HOPEFULLY find an art layout/theme that doesn't give me anxiety this time.
And LOL yeah I don't even... Know what I'd do with my own website right now. I'm trying to work on one for my podcast and feeling overwhelmed pfft.
@PlanetaryKnight Agh, I just remembered, Tumblr recently made a change, displaying the dashboard/timeline on android according to a "best stuff first" algorithm.
So just a fair warning that if you go start there, it might take a while to get traction... :/
@Anke YEAH I have my personal account on there and the only positive thing is you can turn it off -- for now. Really have been disliking a lot of changes there for awhile now though. May be easiest for me to stick to posting stuff here.
@PlanetaryKnight My art stuff is extremely sporadic, but when I do go on an art-spree, just put it up on social media.
@PlanetaryKnight Social Media for now, own website later.
@lanodan_wtch Thanks! I kinda figured it's mostly social media haha but was curious if i was missing anything!
@PlanetaryKnight This is secondhand but the artists I follow have been split between Tumblr and Patreon lately
@overclicked I had mostly noticed that too was just wondering if I'd missed anything else. And I do not like Tumblrs new systems for posts ugh.
@PlanetaryKnight Mastodon.art is where I have been posting my drawings lately. That instance has some features that make it a little better for artists, and a curator who helps everyone get seen.
@sadie_bunny I may make an account there, I had been eyeing it. Thanks!
@PlanetaryKnight I usually circulate around 3 sites at a time. Right now it's an official Facebook page, Instagram, and Twitter. Tumblr if I remember lol and Patreon if ya got one
@PlanetaryKnight I use tumblr, but have been trying to find alternatives.
I know a bunch of folks on patreon, but I think they still all keep pretty active twitters and tumblrs to promote it.
@sarajea
That's kind of what I figured. Part if me is like "It'd be nice to have a community like old dA&Side7!" But it would probably have to be subscription based still. Or have ads. Which is ugh.
@PlanetaryKnight I know folks use instagram, too, but I've never really found my groove there.
@PlanetaryKnight
I have a Facebook page for my art biz and I mainly use Instagram for promotion/art sharing until they kill all my reach. I also have a portfolio site that doesn't get much traffic and has a high bounce rate :(
@PlanetaryKnight
I used to post to tumblr but the only followers I get now are porn bots.
@racheez
That's all that seems to be there half the time. And now that they have the fucked up timeline like Instagram and Facebook... I'm real sick of that on social media.
@PlanetaryKnight ...tumblr and deviantart. And my own website, but if I put it only there, nobody would look. XD
