When I was a child Monarch Butterfly would shut down traffic on the highways here as they migrated in their teeming millions.
Today I saw the first one of the year.
Also a grand total of one bee.
This world is becoming a lifeless husk to my eyes.
Also like 3 junebugs all year and their's only one audible cicada on the block. There's barely mosquitos nor yellow jackets. Nor golden orb-weavers which once inhabited every corner of my yard. I've seen no mantids, no dragonflies, only 2 jumping spiders, only 2 mayflies, a handful of greenflies. The paucity of insects and arachnids is horrifying to me.
