Reactionaries spread memes like "there are only two genders" for a very specific reason. Almost nobody knows the difference between sex and gender, so for most people, this appears obviously factual. It requires basic understanding and research to refute. By making it appear that the left is prioritizing feelings over this "fact," they paint their opponent as irrational, one that cannot be reasoned with, and so instead, must be "dealt with" by other means. This is their true goal.
